Equipment

Talk about changes, since Memorial weekend of 2006 I have been shooting digital, a Canon 5D.  Before the digital conversion I was shooting film and Nikon or large format equipment.  So there are two periods of equipment, before Memorial weekend of 2006 and after.

The specifics and equipment:

All images were exposed before Memorial weekend of 2006, were taken on film using:

  • Wista 45DX (4x5 field camera),
  • Nikon F3, Nikon FM, Nikon FA
  • Pentax 6x7 and a
  • Pentax 1 degree spot meter

The film of choice was:

  • TMAX 100 in 4x5, 120 and 35mm format
  • Kodak Infrared 4x5 and 35mm
  • Ilford 220 roll film (while Ilford made 220)
  • Konica 120 infrared

All film was either developed in Kodak TMAX developer and Agfa Rodinal developer.

After Memorial weekend of 2006:

  • Canon 5D
  • Canon 5D Mark II
  • Various Canon zoom lens.

I still use the Wista and Pentax cameras (mostly due to guilt).

A Bogan tripod was used with the Wista and Pentax cameras. I use the Nikon F3 with a mono-pod or hand-held when possible.

Why the conversion, Agfa Rodinal film developer was no longer being produced, it was the developer I had used since high school. And my sales representative at Calumet Photo "RC",told me about the Canon 5D.....

I remember the conversion starting that weekend since it rained and I had just received the camera via UPS. The conversion also received a major push during three workshops I took that year, the teachers/instructors were Greg Gorman (http://www.greggormanphotography.com/), Drew Gardner (www.drewgardner.co.uk) and Connie Imboden (www.connieimboden.com). Many thanks to all three of them, there workshops are strongly recommended by me.
